On September 28, 2012, Google Update its algorithm called EMD’s update. The majority of our site suffered from this update.
Here’s how Matt Cutts explained in his tweets:
Minor weather report: small upcoming Google algo change will reduce low-quality “exact-match” domains in search results.
And
New exact-match domain (EMD) algo affects 0.6% of English-US queries to a noticeable degree. Unrelated to Panda/Penguin.
I believe that Google didn’t rely only on exact-match domains, since most of our affected site does not use domain specific keyword. And in fact we don’t create low quality content.
During this update, Google panda is also rolling out alongside the EMD update. It has been said that the site’s ad location is one of the factor of why most website are suffering this update.
Due to this, we change the design of our ads and move it to other location. Especially the ads on the left side bar. After moving it to the right, we see that our traffic is now recovering.
In my previous post on “How to Increase Traffic without SEO”, I explained that you do not need to rely on the SEO side. Google become wiser now to detect those who play with Google’s algorithm.
I reiterate this again so you will not have to worry on how to tweak your keywords just to follow the flow of Google algorithm.
