Writing For Your Audience, Not For SEO

by Jay Pabs on December 5, 2010

Are you writing a blog just for specific readers? Or you do blogs for everyone? This is the common problem of most bloggers- the people they are blogging to. Yes, whenever a blogger think of a something they want to write, immediately, without considering his audience, he will blog and post it. Nasty, isn’t it? I can’t blame you when the only reason why you blog is just for fun or to gain income through it. The most critical point to this is you have to know who your readers are.

Blogging Audience

In my previous article “Tips to Consider before Blogging”, I had mentioned that it is a must that you know your readers and your readers know you (not exactly your name) in order to build link with them.  Your readers are your reason why you blog and they are the source of your main purpose.

“Let’s admit this. If not because of your readers, your blog will be kicked off. You write not just to earn money but because of your readers”, as according to my article “Why Blogging Can Be So Addictive.”

Just like in any sales negotiation, it is but much better to actually know what your consumers want- the things that they best look forward to. LISTEN is the preeminent method you could apply in order for you to get your readers back to your blog and will immediately love you. Yes,”readers are plentiful, and thinkers are rare”; it’s hard to make a distinction who are those who read your blogs and those who didn’t, that’s why you need to know your readers in order for you to get feedback from them.

Do you get my thrust? By easy means you can get your readers along through these:

Surveys

You blog to solve your readers’ problem and for you to discover what your readers desired for, it is best needed for you to have surveys. Through polls, you could easily get acquainted to their situation by knowing what they are afraid to confront to and their present dilemma.

Comments

It is not unusual when readers give comments on a certain passage for when readers notice something in content, they will post it. Comments are great indicator on how you could be able to monitor your readers reaction, not just to give remarks on your blog, but it could also help you what to improve and not. And what you should do with the comments? Examine it in order for you to fully understand your readers.

Contact Form

Contact Form is an avenue for you to reach your readers. This is actually a general feedback of your readers that is composed of their different suggestions, comments, request and questions. This is like a communication tool, one way which you could be able to reach out with your audience and will let your readers know that you are open for them; listening to their query, comments, contribution and of course, counsel.

As what Stephen Covey said “Seek first to understand and then to be understood”, we all want to be understood. If you blog for readers to understand you, then let them also to be understood. They badly need to solve their problems, and they know it’s only your blog that could help them. So better know who are you blogging to. Build a rapport with them, that since you understand them, it’s a fact that you cared enough for their lives.
