J Martin Kohe was right when he said that “The greatest power that a person possesses is the power to choose.” Why? Human as we are, we have known that ‘choice’ is the only strongest principle that we had more than anything for it enables us to get along with what we wanted to happen and reached for. It’s the indication for our destiny for with through choices, we are able to live life along any complexities.
Your world is surrounded with various choices: living, relationships, and most importantly your work, which from the very beginning serves as the stand-out why you are opt for survival every now and then. (Don’t worry; you’re not alone for I am with you). In this human race, you just can’t expect anyone else to help you when you can just have your, well, your choices. It is quite normal for a person to indulge himself to more than one priorities, the very important thing is on how he handle the different choices he have between those precedence.
If you are in blogging career right now, but have the ‘another’ main concern, it’s normal and I won’t even tell you to give up the other and do what you enjoyed, that could someday lead you to regression. Do what you always loved to. I’ve been a programmer for almost 11 years, and people find me to help them patch up their site. Nowadays, I’m not only focusing on that ‘fixing sites’, I’m also allotting my time in blogging.
Well, I’m in the crack… how? I always wanted to spend my day to just blog, but I am bound to program sites; this ‘tension of opposites’ always get along with my everyday expense. I don’t have the choice because I am being paid by my client, and I must do what I should work first.
“If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise.” - Robert Fritz
Working for two important things is not good. How Robert Fritz was true? Here:
- You need an extra time to finish what you’ve started.
- You just can’t drop the other and work for what you want since someone (your client) is expecting you.
- You waste time when you spend thinking of ‘what’, ‘how’, and ‘when’ will you work.
- You might forget that the work you don’t like to do greatly benefit you.
- You might tell your client you won’t finish it and that’s disgusting.
- You doubt yourself if you can finish all those in the allotted time.
- You will easily give up.
Now, you get my point; yes, it’s not that bad when you accept different kinds of responsibilities that speak of your varied professions, but come to think of the consequences of what you are doing. Serving two masters is like killing yourself and putting the unexpected shame to just exist right in front of you.
Choices are free when work is of trouble-free. When you work, spend it to the one you love to do most; for in the end, it’s yourself who started and jeered for!
Are you in tension of opposites? Your experience might be same with me. Send-off by giving your message below that I may hear it from you.
