Every one of us desires for idealism, and you may admit this or not, we want nothing to prove but to be the “cream of the crop”. It’s not a bad thing for us to be perfect because in reality, those who performs perfectionism really succeed; but, I’m not saying that you ought to do things right always, it is just that you have to observe the proper decorum of being ‘always great’.
Let us go back to the basic of what is really perfectionism. Perfectionism, in psychology, as according to Wikipedia, is a belief that perfection can and should be attained. In its pathological form, perfectionism is a belief that work or output that is anything less than perfect is unacceptable. At such levels, this is considered as an unhealthy belief, and psychologists typically refer to such individuals as maladaptive perfectionists. When one is behaving with this behavior, he is absolutely eager to make things right, or the worse, not to make them at all, because he is afraid of the usual consequence- failure. Most perfectionists’ individuals cannot accept defeat. Why? Well, because they are used to have their heads above anyone else. Hmmm… not a good model, isn’t it?
How being perfect can give you risk? Quoting Harriet Braiker…
“Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing.” When you started for a business (i.e. blog) and what you are aiming is just for being perfect always, then there’s no room for you to succeed satisfactorily. You have to admit that you can’t do great things in just a snap; learning is a painful process. If you are always looking forward to achieve the best, then probably you will act as insensitive as you can. Being a perfectionist can’t help you out; believe me. Here are just some instances why being perfectionist will really affect you badly.
- You’re hesitant to post the article you have just finished because you doubt its content. You badly wanted it to be perfect for your readers to read.
- You can’t just easily start to open your new site because you can’t find the best structure for it. You badly wanted it to look great.
- You spend too much time in changing your site’s design for you want it to be perfect, unnoticed, you overlook doing the gist which is very important. You thought readers will remark how beautiful your site was. Too bad.
- You will end up the blogging business and to make money online because you think that you can’t work it out. You just can’t do it perfectly.
Now, it’s up for you to decide for the best outcome of your blog. Chasing success is never been a bad thing, the worst thing to happen is when you put the attitude of ‘just right’ in everything you do. Here is a message for you to live by…
“Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack in everything,
That’s how the light gets in.”- Leonard Cohen
The end product for this? Sometimes… when you hold out for everything, you walk away with nothing. So don’t be so perfect, rather be imperfect that can be perfect easily. (“,)
