In my previous post about “Insert Image Easily using Faster Image Insert” I discuss how this plugin can help you speed up inserting images to your post.
But while browsing the internet I came across a website that discuss on how to use social media to promote your blog post. And while reading on the said article, an application called “Ecto” brought my attention. This program can publish your post using this desktop application to your WordPress blog.
Quickly, I search the internet for this application but sad to say this software is not maintained anymore. So, I look for an alternative, searching the word “Ecto alternative” from Google and I found Windows Live Writer.
Why I Want to Use this Software?
The purpose is very obvious. If you are running a blog that most of the article contain a lot of images. If you use the normal WordPress editor to publish your article, the time it takes is considerably slow compare to using software like Windows Live Writer that supports drag and drop operation.
As of now I am using the following software and plugin to accelerate my writing.
- Windows Live Writer
- Snagit – screen capture application.
- Faster Image Insert – a wordpress plugin to insert image easily.
- Microsoft Word – for checking of spelling and grammar.
In conjunction with Windows Live Writer you are advice to use the plugin called “Feed Pauser”. This plugin will delay the publishing of the post to your RSS feed. When you publish the article using windows live writer, WordPress automatically publish the post to your RSS also. This is good if the article doesn’t need any modification.
This application is so great that I prompted to write an article instantly. Additionally, the best thing for this application is that it is still supported with Windows XP and it is free.
Here’s the requirement for running this application:
Operating system: Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (32-bit edition only), Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit editions), Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit editions), or Windows Server 2008.
