Every blogger is engaged in a war whether to focus on SEO or not. Each of them has its own unique view. And their experience cannot in any way compare to each other. I, too are very particular when it comes to SEO. But that was before.
When I study on how successful blogger become popular I come to a conclusion that they did not focus more on SEO. Instead they focus more and more on their content.
Content is King
Try to research it yourself. You cannot finish studying on how to make money online if you will not stumble on these three words. These are just the ingredients needed to build a solid blog.
Without content your SEO is dead. Write content first and SEO will just follow. I bet you are keen on doing a lot of optimization. Overusing SEO will penalize your site if Google found you’re doing it. Instead of focusing so much on how your website receives traffic, focus more on content.
Write Unique Content
When I started my programming website I did not know about SEO. I don’t even know how to optimize my website.
What I do is write, write and write unique content. After studying a lot of eBooks about making money online, here comes the complex business. I learn about Make Money Online, Blogging, SEO, Affiliate Marketing, PPC, CPC, CPM, CPA, PLR, MRR, PTC, Online Survey and a lot more. I study every piece of this topic. I even started to build a website that focus on PLR and MRR but with no luck.
With so much in your mind to deal with, you cannot focus on what you are going to Blog. You are just studying and learning everything and ended up nothing. As the saying goes
“Jack of all trades, master of none”.
My previous post “Set Your Goal and Keep Trying” explained how you can meet something that you want. And this is all about goal setting. You must choose which path you want. I do not mean that the list above will not make you any money. The point only is that you need to master one thing in order to become successful.
Focus Only On One Thing
If you’re just starting out, just write and write, everyday. If you don’t have any ideas what to blog I prefer you study first before you start blogging.
Study how every successful blogger become popular. Without a solid experience I bet you cannot start a blog. Choose your niche first. You must start with a very specific niche. Like in my case I started with programming website then I move on now.
SEO vs Compelling Content
SEO must not be disregarded. It is also important. But think of this, if you have successfully mastered SEO and you don’t have a compelling content, most likely your visitor’s will go away from your blog in just a few seconds while reading your one to two ugly paragraphs.
As I’ve said, SEO must be regarded as well, but first you must have a compelling content. At the end SEO is just one of the tools needed for successful blogging. Another is having a good web design. But above anything else, content is the number one.
A Lesson from My Programming Website
Without thinking so much about SEO I manage to boost my traffic by just writing unique content. I don’t write everyday in my programming website. My website is design to accept source code from multiple authors and it so happen that it works as expected.
MoneyTalksOnline is just a new blog. I just started again this month of October 2010 to revive this website minus some useless months of doing something that turns to nothing. I am expecting to earn from this blog five months to one year from now. These are my goal and wish me luck.
