In my own quest of making money online, I’ve learned that Alexa and Google Page Rank play an important role in monetizing your website.
One reason is if you would like to participate in blog reviews is that you must first reach a certain level of ranking. In my article “Make Money from ReviewMe.com” I discuss on how to qualify your website before you can make a review.
Like ReviewMe.com, they look at your Alexa’s ranking same as your Google Page Rank to be qualified into their program. Not only ReviewMe.com is looking at the popularity of your website but also companies like Text-Link-Ads.
They are very particular on the popularity of your website to be qualified in their program because most of the advertisers are also looking at this tool. If they found out that your alexa’s ranking and google page rank has lowest ranking then they will probably ignore you.
How to increase Alexa ranking and Google pagerank?
When I started building my website (www.sourcecodester.com) my alexa’s ranking is around 9 million. Of course Top 1 is the highest in ranking. Think of it when you’re ranked at 9 millionth. I don’t bother this before since I do not know that this can affect my website’s popularity. But after reading some books, one of the suggestions I’ve learn is to increase your ranking.
What I did is submit my source code to other website that are already popular and has higher ranking compare to my website. The result is your ranking will also increase. Say you link your site with a page rank of 6. So you avail from this website. And Google can increase your page rank by 2 or 3 and even more sometimes.
In alexa, I think traffic is the number source. Same as above, all you need is to submit your article in some other website that can link back to you. Another important factor that affects your alexa’s ranking is through search engine. The more visitors coming from search engine the better your ranking. Because visitors coming from search engine has a unique IP Address.
